Tinnitus:

The silent epidemic

Imagine living with permanent noise.

A hissing, buzzing or ringing of the ears, that permeates every aspect of your life. From sleeping to waking, eating to walking, whether you’re at a nightclub or sitting in a library. It follows you everywhere and no one can hear it but you - this is what is known as tinnitus.

The British Tinnitus Association (BTA) estimates that 1 in 8 people live with the condition. A further 1.1 million adults are estimated to live with severe tinnitus - i.e tinnitus which has a 'substantial impact on quality of life.'

The numbers are staggering, yet the condition remains largely unheard of in the media. How can an epidemic of this volume still be so silent? The three articles below detail just some of the urgent issues which surround tinnitus and the people who live with it.
